When it came to mixing of prints, it was something that I was always scared of doing. If I see another girl mixing prints, I usually love it. And I’ve never had a problem styling mixed prints for a photo shoot. The pictures always come out amazing too! But when it came to me wearing them, I’ve shied away from, thinking I could never pull it off.

It wasn’t until recently that I took the plunge. While I had Rent The Runway Unlimited back in the fall, I was just browsing the site. This skirt and top happened to be next to each other the page. As soon as I saw them next to each other, I knew it would make a cute outfit! And I love how it turned out!
When it comes to mixing prints there are a few things you need to be aware of. If you just throw 2 random prints together you may not get a cohesive feel. Here are some things you should pay attention to!
Mix Colours, Not Prints
Both my top and skirt and shades of blue in them. If you follow this rule, you can mix stripes with polka dots or whatever prints you want as long as they are in the same colour scheme.
Mix Prints With Different Scales
Having different variations of size scales helps add structure to your look. My top has a delicate dot like print while my skirt has bigger stripes.
Stripes Are Neutrals
Stripes are a neutral regardless if you plan on mixing prints. But since they are a neutral, any print you decide to match with it will go.
Have you ever mixed prints before? And if you haven’t are you willing to try?
