“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.” —Gianni Versace
When it comes to fashion, my general approach is to always have fun with it! After all, that is the reason why I fell in love with this industry in the first place. I love constantly challenging new trends and exploring ways to make fashion fun and wearable for every occasion. With so many trends to get playful with this season, it isn’t hard to concoct a fresh, head turning ensemble.
One of my favorite things about trends is making them my own. I don’t think I have to try very hard to make a case for teddy bear coats, especially this time of the year when it’s cold and gloomy outside, this pretty and cuddly trend tends to brighten things up a bit.
White/cream is one of my favourite monochromatic pairings this season. The reason why I gravitate to light colours is that they give the look that element of chic and sassiness. Beautiful and elegant, perfect for winter and spring. And they are easy to put together.
I love mixing different textures, and for some monochromatic outfits, adding a striking colour to the colour set, like this pair of red corduroy trousers.
Corduroy is the new velvet and whether you personally love it or hate it, it’s back. If you look carefully, past the sea of leopard print and roll-necks likely adorning your friends and Instagram feeds, you’ll spot it! If you are intrigued by the return of this grandma fabric why not explore more here.
Adding contrasting material, playing with texture, and topping it off with unique accessories are just some of the ways to produce an outfit that makes you stand apart from the crowd. I had so much fun putting this look together. Who knew corduroy and fur would make such a gorgeous combination. Never be afraid to get experimental with your looks because that is how some of the most memorable outfits are made!
What is the most creative outfit that you have put together recently? Let me know.
